A Pointless, Arbitrary Thing

A Pointless, Arbitrary Thing...is thirty poems in thirty days. No glory. No comments. No recognition required. Merely a chance to try and potentially learn no matter how awful the contribution...(realistic assessment of the starting standard (mine)).

NaPoem 2023

Fine

A word we pay to use,
its cost often dismissed
as we use it to venerate
or more often abdicate...

until we feel the weight
of the fragile mask
tip...slip...and finally
fall

leaving only shards
at our feet

Sakura and Monarch

monarch winged mind
sakura rooted soul
as bare toes grip
an ocean slicked
stone...

against the wind
and the spray
the very sea...

fragile wings beat
to hold tight
to the narrow lip
of that worn stone

grim spite rooted
deep in the face
of faded granite

the soul holds
digs and prods
for a fissure

recourse

for the mind
when its wings
finally fail

Do you want other people to contribute to this thread?

Or are you saying you want to write 30 poems in 30 days,
display them in this thread, without any comments from
anyone else?

Or what?

If others want to try the challenge they are more than welcome to. (Please note that my starting standard is defined solely by my opinion on my work, it is not reflective of anyone elses efforts.)

To keep things from getting confused and to allow for comment(s) (should anyone feel inclined) separate threads (users create their own for their own work) is the most linear and logical format.

(Please do not post creative work to THIS thread.)

Otherwise things get tangled up very quickly.

Apologies for not being more concise.

This is just a challenge I've done in the past and found interesting. The sole purpose of this is simply accountability to a reasonable goal. A visual, linear measure helps keep me organized and on track. Again, apologies for any confusion.

I also know poetry as a whole is a rather niche interest. This is one of those weird things I thought was kinda cool. It is totally pointless and its rules completely arbitrary, but I would still like to try.

This is my orb weave spider who lives on my porch, but my cam is scratched so perfect blurry background.
The poem needs an author's name and I want to WhatsApp this to my contacts because I believe it's not arbitary

For the sake of clarity. If anyone is interested in doing the 30 poems in 30 days, the easiest way foward is to start your own thread for your own work.

e.g. Erika's Art Thread in the Visual Arts forum

Please do not post creative work to this thread to avoid any confusion. Start your own thread to compile your work and to allow for replies (that way there are not five conversations going on at the same time).

Everyone's creative endeavors deserve to be heard, but if all of them are shoved into a finite
space at the same time, no one will be able to find anything because everything is tangled together, so please take time and start your own thread if interested in doing the 30 in 30.

First Definition

The saying is:

Crystal clear...

but the actuality is
the first definition,
not the second

because consider
the nature of crystals
the sheer breadth
and varieties

from table salt
to the pillars
of obscure
Lechuguilla

the second definition
is not precisely wrong
merely inaccurate
